Wednesday lack firepower to topple Forest

Nottingham Forest

An early second-half goal from Simon Cox saw Wednesday slip to defeat at home to Forest.

We turned in another improved performance – compared to the latter days of the Dave Jones era – but were generally found lacking in the final third.

The first-half display was particularly encouraging, with Atdhe Nuhiu heading over when well placed early on and then failing to capitalise when keeper Karl Darlow made a hash of a clearance.

Forest stepped it up after the break and, after Cox put them ahead with a tap-in, the same player should have had a penalty soon afterwards when brought down by Damian Martinez.

Both sides failed to create clear-cut chances as the game progressed and Wednesday rarely threatened to level the scores.
