Wednesday have confirmed that the due diligence process with regard to Hafiz Mammadov taking over the club has now been completed and are hopeful that the Football League will soon give approval for him to become our new owner.
In a statement on the club website, Wednesday say the planned completion date has been delayed because Mr Mammadov has been tied up with other business interests in Azerbaijan but that he met with Milan Mandaric in London on Friday evening and both parties confirmed their commitment to complete the sale as soon as practical.
Mr Mandaric said he understood the frustration of the fans in terms of the delay of the takeover but added: “I have been kept fully informed by Mr Mammadov’s advisors during the process and Friday’s meeting was very constructive. I continue to believe that he will be a wonderful custodian for this great club and I am very excited at his plans for the future.”
