Wednesday held at Rochdale but gain ground on Sheff U

Dave Jones’ first game in charge of Wednesday ended in a goalless draw at struggling Rochdale.

With rivals Sheff U throwing away a two-lead to lose to a last-minute Shefki Kuqi penalty at home to Oldham, Huddersfield held 3-3 by Bury after being three-up and MK Dons and Stevenage both drawing, Wednesday stay in third spot and claw another point back on our city rivals.

It was another tale of not turning possession into clear-cut chances at Rochdale but it could have been worse, with the home side missing a penalty 10 minutes from time when skipper Gary Jones hit the post, and they also created their fair share of openings.
