Wallace starts ban as Owls take on Derby

Wednesday will be without the suspended Ross Wallace for tomorrow’s televised lunchtime showdown with Derby at the iPro Stadium.

Wallace starts the first game of his three-match ban following his dismissal against MK Dons in midweek for violent conduct. Carlos Carvalhal said he had no argument with the sending off and had spoken with the player about it being unacceptable behaviour.

Jeremy Helan, recalled from his loan spell at Wolves, could be back in the squad in place of the injured Joe Bennett and Sam Hutchinson might be in contention following his lengthy lay-off with glandular fever.

We go into the game looking for our first win in 14 league meetings against Derby, the Rams having already booked a play-off place.

We would also confirm our play-off place if we win at Derby and Cardiff do not beat visitors Bolton … or, if we take a point and Cardiff lose.
