Trio ready to return for tough challenge at Hull

Chris Kirkland, Reda Johnson and Jeremy Helan are all likely to return to Wednesday’s starting line-up for Saturday evening’s trip to promotion-chasing Hull City.

Kirkland missed the MK Dons cup tie with a dead leg, although Dave Jones said he would probably have rested him anyway, while Johnson was suffering from a sore foot after serving a one-match suspension and was an unused sub in the MK game. Helan was ruled out of the tie after eventually getting a one-game ban following his ‘two yellow cards controversy’ at Huddersfield.

If both Johnson and Helan return, then Jones is likely to revert to the system which brought victory at Bolton and a point at Huddersfield over the Christmas period, with his major decision being who to play up front as the central striker. The game is live on Sky, kick off 5.20pm.

Jermaine Johnson and Chris Maguire scord two goals apiece in a 6-2 behind-closed-doors friendly win over Rotherham yesterday, JJ playing the first-half and Maguire on for the second 45 minutes. Our other goals came from Chris Lines and Harry Grant and the line-up included Giles Coke, Chris O’Grady, Nicky Weaver and Nejc Pecnik – O’Grady also going off at half time – while there were second-half outings for Paul Corry, Danny Mayor and Jose Semedo.
