‘Training ground closed after reports of Covid outbreak’

Wednesday are said to have closed the Middlewood Road training ground after reports of a coronavirus outbreak.

The Yorkshire Live website reported today: ‘Managerless Sheffield Wednesday have closed their training ground after an outbreak of coronavirus.

‘Yorkshire Live understands the Owls have shut their Middlewood Road base and told the players to train at home for the next two days.

‘Although it remains unclear whether many of the players or backroom staff have either tested positive or shown signs of symptoms, the club have taken emergency action to prevent the situation from worsening.

‘Players will be tested on Wednesday before a decision is taken on whether the training ground can be reopened later this week.’

Meanwhile, Wednesday have terminated the loan agreement with Cardiff City for Aden Flint. The defender returned to Cardiff after sustaining a serious hamstring injury in the defeat at Rotherham in October and made four appearances for us.
