Wednesday moved into 10th place and a point behind the play-off places after a workmanlike 3-1 win over Forest at Hillsborough on Saturday evening.
In an unusually high tempo S6 start from the Owls, we could easily have been two-up early on. Debutant Joost van Aken brought a fine stop out of Forest keeper Jordan Smith, the returning Kieran Lee headed wide when well placed and Gary Hooper fired over.
The visitors also created a couple of chances before Wednesday took the lead midway through the half, Smith slicing his clearance under pressure to Barry Bannan and the midfielder picking out Hooper, who turned to shoot past the keeper from 12 yards.
However, Forest were level within six minutes when Ben Osborn rode the tackle of van Aken to fire past Keiren Westwood at his near post.
Wednesday began the second half in a flat fashion and had Tom Lees to thank for keeping the scores level, the skipper clearing off the line with Westwood beaten.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Wednesday struck twice inside seven minutes to take the game away from Forest.
First, Fletcher headed home from a Lee corner on 63 minutes and then the midfielder hit our third, taking advantage of a rebound off a Forest defender to volley home from close range to seal the three points in our first home league win of the season.
