Reports from the North-East say that Connor Wickham is set to return to Sunderland after his loan spell at Hillsborough.
Wickham completed an initial one-month deal by scoring our winner at Leicester on Saturday and Dave Jones is keen to extend the arrangement. However, the indications are that struggling Sunderland will recall the young striker to bolster their firepower up front.
Martin O’Neill was unable to name a striker on their bench for the 3-1 defeat at QPR on Saturday and he referred to the lack of attacking options in the after-match press conference.
