Smith: We kept our heads under pressure

Assistant manager Jamie Smith praised the Wednesday players for keeping calm after the 2-0 win over Morecambe this evening.

Smith, standing in for Covid-hit Darren Moore, said afterwards: “The lads kept their heads and showed good character under pressure at the end. It was a fantastic double clearance from Hutch but they all deserve the credit.

“It was a massive three points for us, it was important to build on the win from Saturday.”

He said it was too early to assess the extent of the injuries to Harlee Dean, Josh Windass and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and on manager Moore he commented: “The gaffer is ok at the moment, just a sore throat, but he was on the phone throughout the game and he is delighted with the win.”

Josh Windass tweeted about his injury: “Absolutely gutted. Best I’ve felt and probably the best I’ve played since returning . Hopefully it ain’t long term.”
