Smith: Staying up is still very achievable

Assistant manager Jamie Smith was delighted with Wednesday’s five-star display against Cardiff on Monday evening and believes we can still avoid dropping into division one.

The 5-0 win sees us six points from safety with seven games to play and Smith, standing in for Covid victim Darren Moore, said after the 5-0 victory: “Staying up is very achievable.”

Reflecting on the Cardiff display, he said: “It was a massive performance and a massive win for us.

“The lads put in the work and effort and got their just rewards.

“Before the game we told them to be positive, show your belief and your qualities and today you saw it out on the pitch.

“There were some great goals, some great finishes but it was no surprise to us as we’ve seen that in training.”
