Smith bemoans missed chances and lost points

Jamie Smith reflected on Wednesday’s missed chances after the disappointment of a late Bristol City equaliser at Hillsborough today.

The end-of-match stats showed we created 20 chances, but with only three on target, and Smith said :”It’s a tough one to take. It feels like a defeat. I know it is a point but it is not enough.

“When you look at the game on chances, we should have won.

“It’s frustrating, we need to take more of these chances that we are creating, we had enough today to go on and win the game.”

Assistant manager Smith, standing in for boss Darren Moore who has pneumonia, said: “It’s not just me that is devastated, it’s everybody that is in the dressing room. All the players and the staff feel the same.

“It was a game that we thought we could win and we should have won on the chances that we created.”

The draw leaves us seven points from safety with only four games remaining but Smith added that Wednesday will continue the fight to avoid relegation until it’s mathematically impossible to do so.
