Second-half rally sees Owls grab point

Wednesday staged another second-half fightback to earn a point in a 2-2 draw at Cardiff this afternoon.

Trailing 2-0 after 34 minutes, we pulled one goal back on the hour with a Fernando Forestieri effort from the edge of the box and then Barry Bannan rounded off an excellent move to ensure a point 15 minutes from time.

Cardiff had taken the lead against the run of play when Keiren Westwood upended Tony Watt on 20 minutes and Craig Noone slotted home the resulting penalty. Anthony Pilkington made it two 14 minutes later and the home side might have been further ahead before the break while Wednesday rarely threatened.

However, then came the second-half rally from the Owls and both sides went close to snatching a winner in the closing minutes.

The draw sees us drop one place to eighth and one point away from the play-off positions.
