Sam’s setback … duo out until New Year …

Sam Winnall has suffered an injury setback in his bid to regain fitness.

The striker picked up a hamstring problem during his 70-minute appearance for the under-23s at Hull on Saturday evening and manager Jos Luhukay said on Tuesday that Winnall, who has been recovering from a serious knee injury, is likely to be ruled out of further action for a couple of weeks.

Luhkay also said that two other long-term injury casualties – Kieran Lee and Gary Hooper – will not play again for Wednesday before the New Year, neither player having figured for the first team during 2018.

Lee and Hooper were both working their way back to fitness after serious hip problems, only to suffer knee and calf  injuries respectively when playing for the under-23s last month.
