Revamped Owls welcome fans back to S6 after 18 months

Wednesday play our first competitive match in front of fans at Hillsborough for almost 18 months tomorrow.

Huddersfield come to S6 for our Sunday lunchtime Carabao Cup first round tie with manager Darren Moore having signed seven new players in recent weeks and more expected to be recruited in the coming weeks.

Josh Windass misses the tie as he is still sidelined with the hamstring injury sustained in the friendly at West Brom but Wednesday will be bolstered by the appearance of at least some of our seven summer arrivals.

Loanee keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell is likely to be in goal while Dennis Adeniran, Olamide Shodipo, Jaden Brown, Jack Hunt and Lewis Wing are all in contention for a place in the starting line-up. However, reports indicate that Florian Kamberi could be absent with his international clearance not yet confirmed.

Moore said: “I’m looking forward to having supporters back in the ground tomorrow, seeing them all get behind their team. You look at Hillsborough without fans and it’s just not right so yes, I’m really looking forward to having fans back.

“It’s our first competitive fixture for the new campaign, it all starts tomorrow, we are as ready as we can be after a good pre-season and we have to take all that into the game.”

The tie will go straight to penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes.
