Replay date for Owls after goalless draw

Wednesday face a tough-looking replay at Luton after a goalless FA Cup third round tie at Hillsborough on Saturday lunchtime.

We created the better of the clearcut chances – Luton having just one shot on target – but we lacked a cutting edge and the speed of thought and creativity to break down the visitors who impressed with their neat approach work and will be looking forward to the replay at Kenilworth Road on January 15.

Steven Fletcher missed arguably our best opportunity of the game within the first two minutes, heading over from Barry Bannan’s cross when well placed.

Adam Reach was just off target while Luton keeper James Shea saved from Marco Matias as we created the majority of the first-half openings.

Matias brought another save out of Shea with our best chance in the second 45 but Luton had their fair share of the play and, despite late Wednesday pressure, the division one side were celebrating at the end of the game in the knowledge that they have a second chance to cause an upset … this time on home turf.

Dawson, Palmer, Lees, Hector, Fox, Boyd, Bannan, Huchinson (Pelupessy 26), Reach, Matias (Winnall 58), Fletcher (Nuhiu 75).
