Rallying call to fans for Burnley clash

Carlos Carvalhal has called on the fans to be the 12th man as Wednesday prepare for tomorrow night’s important Championship clash with Burnley at Hillsborough.

We go into the match aiming to move back into the play-off places after losing sixth spot to Birmingham on Saturday and Carvalhal realises what a tough task it will be against third-placed Burnley.

The head coach said today: “To win, we must be at 100 per cent, with full concentration and full energy. Our fans must support the team from the first second and try to push us … and we can beat them.

“It will be one of our toughest games of the season. They are a very organised team, a tough team, very competitive, very compact and dangerous at the same time.

“I think in some aspects we are better than them and in some aspects they are better than us.

“To beat them we must be 100 per cent – all of us – the coaches, the players, the fans. We must give a lot of energy to the team and it is a day that the fans can help us win the game because we need extra energy from outside.”

He added: “I am sure that our supporters will show the power of Hillsborough and we will try to do the same on the pitch.”
