Pulis: That performance was just not good enough

Tony Pulis said Wednesday’s display in the 2-0 defeat at Huddersfield tonight was just not good enough.

A clearly unhappy Pulis said: “I thought we were all over the place in the first 20 minutes. That’s the worst since I’ve come here.

“If you give them a 2-0 start it’s uphill all the way. We showed more commitment second half without showing any real quality.”

He added: “We played really well at Norwich but there is no hiding from it, that tonight was just not good enough.

“We need the transfer window. If you look at the depth, there aren’t the players there that we need to improve the first eleven and the group.”

Pulis said he felt the team looked tired and pointed to four of his six games in charge being away from home, including long trips to Norwich and Swansea.

However, he added: “That’s not an excuse because we were poor tonight. We have to be better than that and we are better than that. That performance was chalk and cheese compared to Saturday at Norwich.”

On the overall task of steering Wednesday to safety from the very real threat of relegation, Pulis commented: “I spoke to a lot of people before I took the job so I knew what I was getting in for. It’s a massive club and has got tremendous tradition.

“It is going to be tough and the transfer window is going to be massive for this club.”
