Probably our best of the season says Carlos

Carlos Carvalhal hailed Wednesday’s 5-1 thrashing of play-off rivals Norwich as one of our performances of the season.

After witnessing the team fulfil our attacking potential with five excellent goals, Carvalhal said: “My players did fantastic and they did exactly what they must do. It was probably the best performance of the season.

“When we are like this, playing good football, we can achieve more goals and a better performance.”

He added: “I do not want to talk about individuals because this was all about the team.

“Every single player did so well and so for me, that was our best performance in terms of the goals we have scored.

“We have played other very good team performances, such as twice against Huddersfield, at Newcastle, Aston Villa to name some, but today the goals went in and we are happy.

Carvalhal also praised the fans, saying: “This was our best performance and I think it was the best performance by our fans too.

“The atmosphere was fantastic and for that we say thank you.”

Victory keeps us in sixth place, two points behind Reading in fifth, three away from fourth-placed Leeds and a further point adrift of Huddersfield in third, who also have a game in hand.

Below us, we have a five-point lead over seventh-placed Fulham, who have played a game less, with Norwich now nine points adrift in eighth following today’s result and Preston on the same number of points as the Canaries.
