Point for Owls in Oakwell stalemate

Wednesday were left still searching for a first Championship win under Jos Luhukay after taking a point at fellow strugglers Barnsley on Saturday lunchtime.

Atdhe Nuhiu gave us the lead from the penalty spot on 18 minutes, firing his kick down the middle of the goal after Andy Yiadom was adjudged to have brought down Lucas Joao.

However, the lead lasted just three minutes as Swansea loanee Oli McBurnie burst through the Owls defence far too easily to net Barnsley’s equaliser.

The nearest Wednesday came to scoring again were through late efforts from Ross Wallace and Joey Pelupessy but the home side invariably looked the more likely to take all three points, with Joe Wildsmith pulling off some good saves in the Owls goal.

The draw means it is just one Championship win in our last 15 games and five league matches without a victory under Luhukay.

Wednesday: Wildsmith, Palmer, Venancio, Jones (Nielsen 80), Thorniley (Stobbs 67), Fox, Wallace, Pelupessy, Reach, Nuhiu, Joao.
