Palmer signs new deal … TV incentive to win replay

Liam Palmer has signed a contract extension, keeping him at Hillsborough until the end of next season.

Palmer has made 319 appearances for Wednesday since making his debut in August 2010 and the boyhood Owls fan said today: “It’s another really happy day for me, as everyone knows I’ve been here a long time and it’s good to stay and kick on for a few more years and get back to where we should be.

“It’s a massive honour to be here playing for Sheffield Wednesday, every time you wear the shirt, the badge, it means an awful lot, especially to me being the longest-serving player.”

Meanwhile, Wednesday will be back in televised FA Cup action, if we go through in our first round replay at Plymouth next Tuesday.

The winner between us and the Pilgrims will be away to either Rochdale or Notts County, who also face a replay in Nottingham next Tuesday, and the second round tie will be shown live on ITV on Sunday December 5, kick off 12.15pm.
