Owls take point but little else from bore draw

Wednesday’s shocking home record continued with a drab goalless draw against Birmingham on Tuesday evening.

A dreadful playing surface was hardly conducive to inspiring a flowing game of football and neither side disappointed on that score … the visitors happy to take a point and the Owls huffing and puffing their way through another poor 90 minutes at Hillsborough.

It’s the eighth time we have failed to score at home in the Championship this season and Wednesday rarely looked like adding to our total of just seven goals in 14 league games at S6.

We managed just one shot on target against Birmingham, a first-half effort from Jacques Maghoma saved by Darren Randolph, while Atdhe Nuhiu should have done better with a second-half header and Chris Maguire fired a free kick narrowly wide after the interval.

Loanees Lewis Baker and Will Keane made their full debuts but found it hard to make their mark on an evening totally lacking in entertainment value while Keiren Westwood dealt capably with the few openings created by the visitors.
