Owls looking over shoulder after drubbing

Fears of a relegation battle continue to grow at Hillsborough after a 4-0 thumping at Bristol City.

This defeat means it’s just two wins in the last 19 Championship matches – with just one victory in nine league games for Jos Luhukay since he took over from Carlos Carvalhal in January.

With postponements and teams around us also failing to win on Saturday, we remain seven points above the relegation zone but the danger signs are there after another spiritless and lifeless performance from the Owls.

Bristol City played some good passing football, with Wednesday left chasing shadows for the home side’s three first-half goals, two from Bobby Reid and then a third by Josh Brownhill just before half-time.

Atdhe Nuhiu should have done better when he fired over from close range in a rare first-half attack and the same player headed over in the second period when well placed.

Meanwhile, City took their foot off the pedal in the second half but were still able to add a fourth from the penalty spot just after the hour mark. Both Tom Lees and Liam Palmer were caught dwelling on the ball close to goal, this led to Joey Pelupessy bringing down Marlon Pack and Reid stepped up to complete the rout … and his hat-trick.
