Reports from the North-East are linking Wednesday with a loan move for Sunderland’s Connor Wickham.
Dave Jones is desperate to bring in a much-needed goalscorer and young striker Wickham, who has failed to make an impression since his £8m move from Ipswich last year, could fit the bill.
Wednesday’s lack of proven firepower at Championship level is of increasing concern to Jones and Wickham, who caught the eye when he burst onto the scene at Ipswich, might see an emergency loan deal to S6 as the opportunity to kick start his young career.
