Owls hit five in pre-season opener

Wednesday kicked off our pre-season programme with a 5-0 win at Alfreton on Tuesday evening.

Jordan Rhodes set us on the way with two goals in three minutes midway through the first half, a finish from inside the box and then a glancing header, before suffering a cut to the face and being replaced by Lucas Joao just after the half-hour mark.

Atdhe Nuhiu made it three on 62 minutes with a close-range effort, Adam Reach cracked home a 30-yarder four minutes later and young Connor O’Grady completed the scoring in the closing stages.

George Boyd made his Owls debut, playing the first 45 minutes.
