Owls held to draw after late double strike

The Owls threw away a two-goal lead in the closing minutes and had to settle for a point in a
2-2 draw with promotion-chasing West Brom at Hillsborough on Wednesday night.

Another brilliant long-range strike from Adam Reach on 24 minutes and a cool close-range finish from Fernando Forestieri 17 minutes later gave us a flattering 2-0 lead at the break.

Forestieri missed a great chance to put us three-up soon after half time but, just as it looked like we might have done enough to resist plenty of West Brom pressure in the second half, they struck twice late on.

With 85 minute on the clock, Joey Pelupessy turned a low cross from ex-Owl Chris Brunt into his own net, with Harvey Barnes waiting to pounce.

Then, less than two minutes later, Barnes was allowed to run from the halfway line and turned Tom Lees and Daniel Pudil inside the penalty box before slotting past Cameron Dawson.

The draw leaves us in 12th place but only a point from the play-off positions.

Dawson, Palmer, Hector, Lees, Pudil, Penney, Pelupessy, Onomah (Kirby 82), Reach, Nuhiu (Joao 78), Forestieri. Att: 22,150.
