Owls eye more signings after double deal

Wednesday could be back in the transfer market before the window shuts on Tuesday after today’s signing of Watford pair Fernando Forestieri and Daniel Pudil.

Midfielder Forestieri is thought to have cost around £3m and has signed a four-year deal. He made 26 appearances for the Hornets last season in their promotion charge to the Premier League.

Carlos Carvalhal said 25-year-old Forestieri will play in a role between midfield and attack and revealed he had hoped that a player signed in the summer, who he did not wish to name, could have filled this role … but it was not to be.

Carvalhal added: “Forestieri will be very important to us because he is a player who can play behind the striker. He is a player who can play between midfield and attack, to support the attacker, which is something we have missed.”

The head coach also said that there could be one or two further additions to the Wednesday squad before the transfer window closes on Tuesday evening.

Czech Republic international Pudil, 29, is a left back and joins on a season-long loan after making 108 appearances for Watford.
