Owls drop a place after Boxing Day results

Wednesday have slipped a place to eighth in division one.

With today’s scheduled home game against Burton one of several Boxing Day casualties to Covid, MK Dons took advantage by coming from two-down to win 3-2 at Lincoln, sealing all three points in added time.

The victory lifts them to seventh, a point and place ahead of us, while we remain two points adrift of the play-off places.

Leaders Rotherham went down 1-0 at Accrington so stay 10 points in front of Wednesday but having played a game more, while Plymouth strengthened their promotion hopes with a 2-0 win at Cheltenham that lifts them into fourth and four points behind Rotherham.

Wednesday’s next scheduled fixture is the big clash with third-placed Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Thursday evening, kick off 7.45pm.
