Owls boss left fuming after latest defeat

Jos Luhukay cut short his press conference with BBC Radio Sheffield after the 2-1 defeat at Swansea, following a question about his future as Wednesday boss.

With our dismal run now stretching to one win and five points from the last 10 matches, reporter Andy Giddings asked the Owls boss if he was going to get time to turn things around at S6 and Luhukay replied: “How many times have you asked me this question? F****ing hell. I have had from you 10, 20 times the same question in the last two weeks … you must not ask me every time. Bye bye.”

Luhukay was also angered by our defending after taking a 63rd minute lead with a Marco Matias strike, Swansea hitting back in the 71st and 72nd minutes through Bersant Celina and Wayne Routledge to seal victory.

He said: “It’s very hard to take, it is totally frustrating to give away a 1-0 lead in a couple of minutes.

“We didn’t defend down our left side twice and that is not acceptable, you have to run with your opponent, I have tried to coach this three or four times but it is not going in their heads.

“I am so angry because the players are showing no proof of what we are doing. It is not the first time we give a 1-0 lead away for the opponents to score two goals.

“My words won’t come out properly because I am so angry with what happened. Maybe the players can give the answers.”

We gave an overall slightly improved performance compared to recent weeks, against a Swansea side who looked decidely beatable, but we paid once again for sloppy defending and an inability to kill the game off at the other end, sliding to our seventh defeat in those last 10 games which has seen us drop to 18th and just four places and five points from the relegation zone.
