Wednesday fought their way through to the fifth round of the FA Cup in a keenly-contested tie at a rain-lashed Rochdale this afternoon.
Joe Mattock on 51 minutes and another from Oguchi Onyewu soon afterwards looked to have put the Owls in charge of the tie but Rochdale were quickly back in the match with a tremendous shot from Michael Rose on the hour.
Worse followed four minutes later when Wednesday were reduced to ten men as Mattock was sent off for a second bookable offence.
As to be expected, the home side tested Wednesday’s resolve in the closing minutes but we were equal to all that Rochdale could muster and find ourselves in the last 16 and tomorrow’s round five draw.
