Owls await Iorfa fitness update ahead of Sunderland clash

Wednesday wait on the fitness of Dominic Iorfa ahead of tomorrow night’s Hillsborough clash with Sunderland.

Iorfa was sidelined for Saturday’s trip to Cheltenham after injuring an ankle in training and Darren Moore has rated him 50-50 for the visit of Lee Johnson’s side.

Moore could also consider a return for Sam Hutchinson after his lay-off with a muscle injury but said: “We’re basically assessing Sam before every game. If he is symptom free, then we are good to go.

“If there is a little bit of tightness, I don’t take the risk as much as we would like him back. We don’t want him back for one or two games. We want him to come back and stay fit from now until the end of the season.”

We go into the game in eighth place, five points adrift of the play-offs and 11 points behind league leaders Plymouth.

Sunderland are in fourth spot on 28 points and will be without former Wednesday loanee Aiden McGeady who is suspended after being sent off in their 5-1 defeat at Rotherham on Saturday.

Long-term Wednesday absentees Massimo Luongo (hamstring) and George Byers (groin) both had 45-minute runouts for the under-23s this evening in a 3-0 defeat at Sheff U.
