‘Our most difficult test of season at Villa’

Carlos Carvalhal believes Wednesday face their toughest challenge of the season at Villa Park on Saturday.

Steve Bruce’s men moved into the play-off positions with a midweek win at Preston while the Owls will be looking to for a second successive victory, following a previous run of just one success in seven games.

Carvalhal said: “Villa are probably the best team in the Championship, with the best players and a good coach.

“When we play at their stadium, in theory it will probably be the the most difficult game of the season. But we are combative, we like this kind of challenge, we are Sheffield Wednesday and we go to all places to fight for the three points.”

The head coach has hinted that there could be a change or two in the starting line-up at Villa after Tuesday night’s win over Millwall, using the squad to cope with the demands of playing three league games in a week.

Jordan Rhodes can be expected to retain his place after a goalscoring return to the starting line-up against Millwall while Daniel Pudil continues to recover from his hamstring problem and may have to wait until after the international break for full fitness.

We go into the game on 20 points, five behind Derby in the final play-off place.
