Onomah “wasn’t good enough” says Jos

Jos Luhukay pulled no punches when asked why midfielder Josh Onomah was substituted at half time in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Swansea.

Onomah was recalled to the starting line-up as Barry Bannan was suspended but he was replaced by Marco Matias after a largely lethargic first 45 minutes from the Tottenham loanee.

Luhukay explained afterwards: “He was not good enough. He brought nothing on the ball.

“He lost three, four, five balls right at the beginning (of the game). That is the reason why he came off and we changed it. Honestly, he had no influence on the game.”

The manager added: “That was his chance but you must take it when you have the chance.”
