Nuhiu strike seals FA Cup trip to Chelsea

Atdhe Nuhiu’s second-half strike clinched Wednesday an FA Cup trip to Chelsea after a hard-fought third round replay victory at Luton on Tuesday evening.

Nuhiu’s deflected close-range shot put us ahead just after the break and Cameron Dawson, who had already made important saves in the first half, excelled again as he then kept out efforts from Luke Berry, Dan Potts and Andrew Shinnie to help see us through to the clash with cup holders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on January 27.

The home side dominated the first half, particularly in the closing stages, and but we could also point to a Steven Fletcher header that struck the woodwork 10 minutes from the break.

Then, within a minute of the restart we were ahead, Nuhiu driving the ball home from 10 yards in front of the sellout 1500 Wednesday fans.

As to be expected, Luton pressed hard for an equaliser but found Dawson in excellent form and they also hit the woodwork through James Collins.

However, we had chances of our own and saw out four minutes of added time to seal a fourth round tie at Chelsea at the end of the month.

Dawson, Palmer, Lees, Hector, Thorniley, Fox, Boyd, Bannan, Reach, Fletcher (Matias 90), Nuhiu.
