No need to panic says Jones after second league defeat

Burnley

Dave Jones called on the fans not to panic after today’s 2-1 home defeat to Burnley left us pointless from two league games.

A disappointing performance saw us concede two first-half headed goals through Danny Ings and Sam Vokes in a five-minute spell. After the break, Atdhe Nuhiu twice went close with headers and the introduction of Chris Maguire gave more threat up front – but we only had a David Prutton header 20 minutes from time to show for an improved second-half display.

Jones admitted we should have done better with the defending on both Burnley goals and said that the midfield players were sloppy in the first half.

He said that he wants to bring in a creative midfield player and added: “There’s no need to panic and we will pull it round.

“We could have got a point from both our league games. We’re not far off … and we need to get our missing experienced players back as soon as possible.”

Jones also said that Giles Coke was withdrawn from the squad this morning because of a gall bladder problem.
