New signing cleared to play at Reading

Gary Hooper is eligible to play for Wednesday at Reading tomorrow after completing his permanent move this morning.

The striker, who hit six goals in his last six games on loan at S6, beat the noon deadline when he signed for an undisclosed fee from Norwich and this means he can face the Royals, if selected.

The 27-year-old initially joined us on loan last October and made 13 appearances in total.

He was lacking match fitness in his early days but has proved himself to be a goal poacher in recent weeks, scoring both in the 2-0 win over Leeds last weekend and bagging a brace in the previous home game, a 3-2 victory against Bolton.

Hooper began to make his mark at Scunthorpe, hitting 50 goals in 95 games, and earnt a £2.4m move to Celtic in 2010.

He then hit 82 goals during three years in Scotland before moving back south in a £5m move to Norwich, netting 18 times at Carrow Road but struggled to make the first team after their promotion back to the Premier League this season.
