New injury setback for Kieran Lee?

Wednesday will await an injury update on Kieran Lee after he played for just 15 minutes of the under-23s’ 2-1 win at home to Colchester on Monday.

It was a first runout of the season for Lee, who was sidelined with a hip injury for much of the last campaign, but he was substituted after the opening quarter of an hour.

Development squad manager, Neil Thompson, said after the game: “I have not spoken to the medical staff about Kieran. He has obviously had one or two issues but that’s not for me to say. He got some minutes in so we will obviously see how he is tomorrow.”

Gary Hooper also returned from his own hip injury, which has seen him ruled out since December, and he played for the opening 45 minutes.

The Wednesday youngsters led 2-0 thanks to an early own goal by Colchester defender Oliver Kensdale and then an excellent strike from Morgan Fox 13 minutes from time, before Colchester pulled back a late consolation from the penalty spot through Noah Chilvers.
