Moore’s verdict on the three points

Darren Moore felt it was a comprehensive win for Wednesday over Burton tonight, despite allowing the visitors back into the game at 2-2.

Reflecting on the eventual 5-2 scoreline, Moore said: “It was a good three points tonight. We felt it was a game where we’d have to go and get it and we took the game to them.

“The first 25 minutes was a great start to get two goals and then straightaway they replied with a deflected effort, that’s football.

“I thought the boys started the second half really well. I didn’t see the second goal so well because I had a couple of bodies in my vision but it was a good finish.

“What pleased me most about it was the boys kept their composure, kept moving the ball, and I always felt there were one or two more chances there.

“I’m pleased we got the players in the positions to capitalise.

“It was a comprehensive win but Burton were plucky at times, they stuck to their guns and got the ball in our final third, they didn’t allow us much time and space.

”I was really pleased mentally with where the boys are at and physically with where they’re at. They’re in a good space.”

Looking forward, Moore said that fifth-placed Wednesday now need to further consolidate their play-off position, starting at Lincoln on Saturday.

George Byers missed out tonight after taking a slight knock against Charlton on Saturday while Saido Berahino was rested to the bench before coming on for the final half hour.
