Moore reflects on Huddersfield cup defeat

Darren Moore was pleased with Wednesday’s overall performance, despite losing our Carabao Cup tie on penalties to Huddersfield.

Speaking after the 4-2 Hillsborough shootout defeat this afternoon, he said: “I thought it was a high level contest and both sides were spot on with their approach. We moved it well at times.”

Looking ahead and with next Saturday’s league opener at Charlton in his sights,, Moore added: “We need to improve in and out of possession. There is always something to work on.”

He said they will monitor the fitness of Olamide Shodipo in the coming days after he limped off with what looked like a possible hamstring injury. Moore said Shodipo wanted to stay on the pitch and the manager hopes it is not too serious.

It was the first time Moore has managed Wednesday in front of a crowd at Hillsborough and he received a warm welcome from the fans, the manager saying; “It was special for me and we are so happy to have them back.”
