Moore in swoop for strike duo

Darren Moore’s summer signing spree continued today with the arrival of attackers Marvin Johnson and Lee Gregory.

With Josh Windass possibly ruled out until October after having had surgery on his damaged hamstring, Moore has further strengthened the Wednesday frontline with the capture of experienced pair Johnson and Gregory.

Winger Johnson, 30, joins on a free transfer after making 42 appearances for Middlesbrough last season. He began his ‘league’ career at Motherwell, moved to Oxford United in 2016 and then signed for Boro a year later.

His arrival at S6 was soon followed by the news of Gregory’s signing in a permanent move from Stoke.

The Sheffield-born striker was released from the Sheff U academy but made his name in non-league with Halifax, hitting 82 goals in 129 games before moving on to Millwall in 2014, where he was on target 77 times in 238 appearances.

Gregory, now 32, then joined Stoke two years ago, scoring seven times in 46 matches.
