Moore apologises to supporters for performance

Darren Moore apologised to the 2,000 Wednesday fans who made the near 600-mile round journey to Plymouth today, only to see the Owls turn in such a poor display in their 2-0 loss.

Moore took the players to the Wednesday end of the ground at the end of the match to salute the fans and the boss said: “Our supporters came a long way to support us and we needed to acknowledge them at the end for travelling down.

“I don’t hide from the game. We apologise for the performance and hopefully there aren’t too many of them this season.”

On the display, Moore said: “What we have to do is stay on top of our game. We have shown signs this season of what we can do. Today is a good reminder for us that if you are not on top of your game this is what can happen.

“We have taken a step back in terms of our performance. The only way we can put it right is on the training ground.”

He added: “It’s also credit to Plymouth. They set up to get amongst us. The goals were uncharacteristic for us and more self-inflicted. We didn’t have the focus and the vision we had in recent weeks.”
