Monk to make changes after poor run

Garry Monk says there will be changes for tomorrow’s FA Cup third round tie at Brighton … but because of poor form rather than resting players for the cup.

The Owls boss expressed his disappointment at the team’s recent performances after the home loss to Hull on New Year’s Day completed three successive defeats and he told today’s pre-cup tie press conference: “It won’t be a case of resting players, it’s a case of others deserving an opportunity.”

Squad players Moses Odubajo, Joey Pelupessy and Kieran Lee could all be in the line-up and Steven Fletcher may well start the game, having returned as a second-half substitute against Hull following his three-game lay-off through sickness.

Monk also confirmed that Cameron Dawson will be in goal, while Massimo Luongo is fit after his head injury but Liam Palmer continues to be sidelined with his ankle problem.
