Monk speaks on defeat … and possible signing

Garry Monk spoke of his frustration over Wednesday’s defeat at Bristol City after seeing his side fail to turn their first-half dominance into goals.

Speaking in the aftermath of the 2-0 loss at Ashton Gate, Monk said: “They are the fine margins you live by.

“I thought we were the dominant team in the first half … but we didn’t make the most of our chances.

“Of course, we are frustrated.”

He added: “We know what we are capable of but what will define our season is how we bounce back from defeats. It’s the first defeat we have had in the league and it is vitally important we use that as motivation to bounce back next week.”

That next game sees QPR at Hillsborough and we could we have a new signing – Cardiff forward Callum Paterson – in the squad by then.

Paterson was left out of the Cardiff squad yesterday and rumours of him moving to S6 continue to grow.

Monk said: “Callum is someone we are very interested in and the two clubs are in talks. He would help the forward line and bring us physicality.”
