Monk likely to revert to ‘cup squad’

Garry Monk can be expected to name a similar squad to the one that beat Rochdale in the Carabao Cup second round when we face Fulham at Craven Cottage in tomorrow evening’s round three tie.

We included 10 products of the Wednesday academy in our 18-man squad at Rochdale and, with none of those youngsters featuring for the under-23s in their 1-0 defeat to Barnsley today, Monk can be expected to stick with the mixture of youth and experience for the Fulham test.

The winners of tomorrow night’s match will travel to face Brentford at their new Brentford Community Stadium in next week’s fourth round, the Bees defeating West Brom 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns this evening.

On the injury front, young defender Osaze Urhoghide played the first 45 minutes for the under-23s against Barnsley on his way back to fitness.
