Megson hails battling performance . . . double injury blow . . . JJ set for S6 exit?

Gary Megson praised Wednesday’s fighting spirit as they fought back from behind to earn victory at Tranmere on Saturday

After seeing goals from Ryan Lowe and Chris Lines complete a 2-1 win, Megson said: “That’s as hard-earned three points as we will probably get all season – it was a really tough game.

“We stood up to most things, looked a good side in the second 45 minutes and I think fully deserved the win on the second-half performance.”

On the injury front, Gary Madine limped off just before half-time with a damaged toe and will have a scan on Monday while Lewis Buxton missed out at Tranmere after pulling a hamstring in training on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Jermaine Johnson’s days at Hillsborough could be numbered. He did not travel to Tranmere, punishment for his reaction to being subbed at Morecambe on Sunday when he walked straight down the tunnel.
