New striker Chris Maguire was on target twice as Wednesday won 4-0 in a pre-season friendly at Stocksbridge Park Steels on Tuesday evening.
Both his goals came in the first-half and Gary Madine was also on the mark before the break. With the Owls resting several first teamers during the second half, Patrick Antelmi completed the scoring late on.
Meanwhile, another Wednesday eleven played out a 1-1 draw against Sheffield FC on Tuesday. Chris O’Grady gave us the lead in the first half but the hosts levelled matters after the break following a batch of Owls substitutions, which again saw several younger players pitched into action.
The pre-season programme now continues with the Owls flying out to Portugal for games against Sporting Lisbon and Reading.
* Liam Palmer has gone on loan to Tranmere until the end of the year while Clinton Morrison and Jon Otsemobor – both released by Wednesday – have joined Colchester and MK Dons respectively.
