Luhukay: They were stronger than us

Jos Luhukay admitted Wednesday lost to a far stronger side after the four-goal drubbing at Bristol City.

He said: “Firstly, compliments to Bristol. They played a very good game and we did not. We had problems from the beginning and the quality from Bristol, we could not stop them in offensive situations.

“Sometimes you have a game, as today, when the opponent is stronger than yourself and you try everything but you lose not just the control in defending but when we have the ball we have no solution … we lose easy balls and the trust is then not there.

“At half time we tried to give the players new confidence and we did better in the second half.”

We now have two home games in the next week – against Ipswich on Tuesday and Bolton on Saturday –  to hopefully ease growing worries of getting sucked into a relegation battle and Luhukay added: “Now we have two home games and we must be much better on Tuesday.

“We know that and we can be. We have two days to get us in a more confident situation to win on Tuesday.”
