Luhukay talks of injury anguish for Kieran

Jos Luhukay has spoken of the disappointment surrounding Kieran Lee’s latest injury setback.

Lee, who has battled his way back from a long-standing hip problem, suffered a knee injury after just 16 minutes of his comeback game for the under-23s earlier this week and now faces another spell on the sidelines.

Manager Luhukay said: “Kieran felt something at the back of his knee. He’s had a scan. We must have patience. He will not be available to us in the next few weeks.

“He was coming closer to the team and was going in a good direction. He’s a positive person with a very good character. He is now very disappointed and this is normal. It had taken him a lot of time to come back to where he was last week.

“He has been out now for almost a year. The medical team are supporting him every day. Everyone at the club will try to help him so he can come back again.”

Gary Hooper, who has been out for eight months with a hip injury, played for 45 minutes in the same under-23s match and Luhukay hopes he will be ready to play for a longer spell when the Owls youngsters take on Leeds on Monday.
