Luhukay plans for younger Owls squad

Jos Luhukay has underlined his plans to mould a younger squad at Hillsborough for next season.

Glenn Loovens and Ross Wallace – both in their thirties – were released this week at the end of their contracts and Luhukay is clearly looking to bring down the average age of the squad.

He told Thursday’s press conference: “We will try to bring in young players for the new season, players who can progress their careers and make the next steps for the future, for themselves and for the club.

“We have enough experienced players in the team. We also have to look to young players who can develop with us.”

Luhukay has already shown his desire to give younger players their chance by blooding some of our promising youngsters from the academy, since taking over at the start of the year, and he says he will continue to look to the 18-23 age group, both inside and outside the club, for future additions to the first team squad.
