Luhukay: Nuhiu made the difference

Jos Luhukay was full of praise for Atdhe Nuhiu after his two-goal strike against Leeds saw Wednesday ease some of the relegation concerns gathering around Hillsborough in recent weeks.

Talking of the striker’s second-half double, which signalled just a second Championship win for the manager in 12 attempts, he said: “Atdhe Nuhiu made the difference today. He always works unbelievably hard and is a very important player for the team.”

Luhukay also saluted the all-round team display and had special praise for the returning Sam Hutchinson and Barry Bannan, Hutchinson completing 66 minutes before being replaced by Bannan.

Luhukay said: “Hutchinson and Bannan bring us lots of quality and character … Hutchinson is a fighter and winner.”

He added that conceding a last-minute equaliser to Bolton last week had felt like a loss but after Saturday’s victory, completing our first double over Leeds since 1960, the manager said: “Today you saw the explosion of joy after the game and with our fans it was a very good situation for us.”
