Lowe hits the heights as Wednesday hit back to clinch important win at Tranmere

Ryan Lowe was the second-half matchwinner as Wednesday came back from a goal down at Tranmere on Saturday to take three points and keep up our promotion challenge.

The home side totally dominated the first half and took a deserved lead through Jose Baxter on 37 minutes but the Owls grabbed an unexpected equaliser just before the break, with Chris Lines shooting home from the edge of the penalty area.

Ryan Lowe came on at the start of the second-half for the injured Gary Madine and Wednesday, inspired by some excellent wing play from Ben Marshall, turned the tables and began to dominate.

Lines and Marshall both went close to putting the Owls ahead before Lowe pounced 10 minutes from time, heading home at the far post in front of the 2,000-plus travelling Wednesdayites.

We then withstood some late Rovers pressure to clinch another important victory – our first at Prenton Park in 72 years – and keep ourselves in third spot in the promotion chase.
